Indiana man found dead in vehicle in Channahon gas station parking lot

CHANNAHON — Police responded to a report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle in the Thorntons gas station parking lot, 24144 W. Eames St. in Channahon on Thursday afternoon.

Channahon Deputy Police Chief Adam Bogart said that when officers arrived on the scene a little before 4 p.m. near Interstate 55 and Route 6, they discovered a 54-year-old Indiana man dead in a vehicle.

The man was transported to the Will County Coroner's Office and an investigation into his death is ongoing between the office and Channahon police, Bogart said. A patron of the gas station originally found the man before authorities were notified.

"I don't want to get into the specifics of evidence, but, at this time, we believe there is no foul play involved," Bogart added.

He went on to say there was also no threat to the public; although, he declined to offer further details regarding how that was determined. The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
