to hold Neighborhood Fest
First Baptist Church of Morris invites everyone to attend its third annual Neighborhood Fest. Neighborhood Fest is a free family fun-filled day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 5. Food will be served all day, with fun geared to all ages, including inflatables, face painting, gaga ball, yard yahtzee, water games, human foosball, a duck-calling seminar for kids, woodworking project for kids, children’s games and crafts. ICS to hold “Get Together”
for class of 2013
From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8, Immaculate Conception School will hold a get-together for the Class of 2013 in the St. Angela Room. Members of this class recently completed high school and many of them will be going away to college for the first time. Guests will be treated to pizza and soft drinks. They will have the opportunity to visit and to view yearbooks, pictures, and videos from their years at ICS. For further information, please contact the school office.
Immaculate Conception Parish Worship Night on Aug. 12
Come away and meet with Jesus during Immaculate Conception Church’s Praise and Worship and Prayer evening at 7 p.m. Aug. 12. Music will be provided by Alpha & Omega Worship Band.
Ice cream social on Aug. 13
The St. Lawrence Catholic Church of South Wilmington would like to extend a warm invitation to all for our annual Ice Cream Social on at 11 a.m. Aug. 13. The event will take place at the parish hall in South Wilmington. There will be Polish sausage, BBQ and hot dog meals served along with our wonderful variety of homemade desserts, which can be topped off with ice cream. Food prices are very affordable and family friendly. There will also be games, bingo and our famous quilt raffle drawing. This year we will also include our Lucky Duck Race at the Social. Come bring family and friends for an afternoon of fun and entertainment at family affordable prices.
Knights of Columbus meeting
The Knights of Columbus meet the third Thursday of every month in the Meeting House at 622 E. Jackson St. in Morris. This month’s meeting will be 6:30 p.m.
Aug. 17 and will start with a light dinner followed by the monthly meeting. All men of Immaculate Conception are welcome to attend.
Coal City United Methodist Church to hold ‘Hallelujah’ dinner
Coal City United Methodist Church, located at 6805 E. McArdle Road in Coal City, invites the community to their “Hallelujah”Pork Dinner on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. They will be serving tender and juicy pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, corn, green beans, bread, assorted desserts, coffee, iced tea and lemonade. Tickets will be sold at the door. The cost is $10 for ages 13 and older, $6 for children ages 6-12, and children age 5 and under eat free. Carry-outs will be available. All proceeds from the “Hallelujah” Pork Dinner will go the church’s building fund.
Coal City United Methodist Church seeking crafters, vendors
Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 E. McArdle Road, is sponsoring its Craft/Vendor Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9. Crafters and vendors are still needed. Tables and spaces are $10 each. Crafters and vendors will be asked to donate an item for drawings. Spaces in the show are limited, so please register early. Anyone interested a space in the show, is asked to contact Judy Miller at 815-530-5933 or email@example.com. The deadline to register is Sept. 4. The show will be held Sept. 9 in the church fellowship hall, so weather will not be a problem. Admission for shoppers will be $1, which includes a door prize ticket. Many parking spaces will be available, and crafters and vendors will have a variety of items to choose from. Door prize drawings and lunch will also be available to visitors. Come out and maybe get some early holiday shopping done. All proceeds from this event will go the church building fund.
