Morris teen charged with DUI, fleeing scene after accident that injured four

MORRIS – A Morris teenager in now in jail after his involvement in an accident injured a pregnant woman and two children.

Eighteen-year-old Justin Ferguson of Morris allegedly rear-ended Christopher Olbrot on Route 47, forcing Olbrot into a ditch near Route 47 and Sucker Road on the evening of Aug. 6.

Olbrot and Ekaterina Harris, along with two minors, were carried off the scene and taken to Morris Hospital, according to the sheriff's report. The injured parties are a family, the sheriff confirmed.

Morris Hospital would not give a status update on the patients.

Ferguson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a DUI with combined influence of drugs, and leaving the scene of a personal injury, Deputy Chief Ken White said.

According to White, Ferguson fled the scene until his vehicle was disabled at Pine Bluff and Route 47, where he was found in the vehicle.

Ferguson was charged, arraigned and sent to the Grundy County jail.

“We’re done with our investigation,” White said.

Ferguson's bond was set at $50,000 but he remained in Grundy County jail as of Friday morning. Ferguson was assigned a public defender and had a pre-trial appearance on Thursday morning with a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 31.
