MORRIS – Grundy County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 29-year-old Morris man who had stolen a truck from a Morris garage and attempted to burglarize a nearby home Thursday morning.

Brian Taylor, 29, of Morris faces burglary and motor vehicle theft charges in Grundy County after he was arrested Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the Grundy County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies had responded around 7 a.m. Thursday to the 3000 Block of Cemetery Road in Morris for a reported motor vehicle theft. The victim told police an unknown person had entered his garage, found the keys for his pickup truck and stolen the vehicle.

Soon after the reported motor vehicle theft, an attempted burglary was reported in the same area.

"My investigators acted quickly on a lead they obtained," Grundy County Sheriff Kevin Callahan said in an email.

Taylor was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Thursday in connection with the crimes. The pickup truck and a vehicle Joliet police had recently reported stolen were both recovered. The 29 year old was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance in Will County.
