ICS senior citizens Thanksgiving lunch
The ICS Student Council will sponsor its annual Thanksgiving Lunch for Senior Citizens at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in the St. Angela Room.
Guests will be served a turkey lunch with all the trimmings.
There is no charge for those attending. All area seniors are invited.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The parish will be holding a dedication of its newly renovated church building 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at 195 S. Kankakee St. in Coal City.
Bishop Joseph Siegel, auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Joliet, will preside at the dedication. A reception will be held immediately after the dedication at Berst Hall, across the street from the church. RSVP by calling the parish office at 815-634-4171.
First Presbyterian Church of Morris
• The Prairie Singers will be performing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.
• Annual Cookie Heaven bake sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, or until cookies run out. All proceeds from the event go to Loving Deeds for Kids in Need, a charity that benefits Grundy County school children.
• The Rev. Dr. Roy Backus will be performing a Saxophone Concert from 2 to
3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10.
• The Living Nativity, an enactment of the Christmas Story of Jesus’ birth (with live animals provided by Dr. Tobi Staudacher of Yorkville) is at 5, 5:20 and 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10.
Light refreshments are provided inside the church, and inclement weather cancels this event.
• The Christmas Musical “Child of Peace” will be performed at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at and at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17.
Sacred Heart & St. Patrick’s
Sacred Heart parish in Campus and St Patrick’s parish in Dwight will present a program of speaking, music and prayer to help us dive deeper into the mystery of Christ becoming a man.
Anyone and everyone desiring to grow in faith, hope and charity is invited to attend.
The event is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26; from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27; and from 7 p.m. until the ending Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Prairie Singers mark their 30th year of music making by opening this Christmas season with “The Wonders of Christmas.” The Prairie Singers have selected holiday favorites from the past 30 years for these special performances. Come and enjoy, “The Wonders of Christmas” as the Singers gift to you. Concerts this year begin on Nov. 28 at the Prairie Creek Public Library in Dwight at 6:30 p.m. The library concert is free and open to the public with refreshments following the concert. First Presbyterian Church in Morris will host the singers Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. Epworth United Methodist Church in Ottawa welcomes the singers Sunday Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Streator stage the Singers on a Thursday night concert Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., in conjunction with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Special Marian selections will be highlighted at this concert. The final concert will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. The gothic church is a perennial favorite of the singers as they close their Christmas season. A free will offering will be taken at all church concerts. The Prairie Singers are a chamber ensemble comprised of singers from Grundy, LaSalle, and Livingston counties. The group performs literature from a broad range of historical periods, along with a wide variety of showtunes, popular, and classical favorites. The choral ensemble welcomes membership inquiries from interested singers. “Hallelujah” Soup Supper & Cookie Sale
Coal City United Methodist Church, located at 6805 E. McArdle Road in Coal City, invites you to join them on Saturday, Dec. 2 for their “Hallelujah” Soup Supper from 4-7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The delicious home made soups will be chili and turkey & rice. Each meal includes your choice of soup, a sandwich, crackers, a beverage, ice cream and dessert. Carry-outs will be available and tickets will be sold at the door. The cost is $8 for adults and children age 13 & older; $4 for children age 6 -12; $2 for children age 3 – 5; and children age 2 & under eat free. All proceeds from the soup supper will go to the church’s building fund. Also on Dec. 2, Sunshine Circle will be holding their annual cookie sale during the soup supper.
