GARDNER — A domestic dispute turned into a multi-agency response Tuesday afternoon in Gardner after a man struggled with Grundy County Sheriff's deputies trying to arrest him.
Deputies responded around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of South Jackson Street in Gardner for a reported domestic disturbance, Grundy County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Craig Meece said.
Jesse Mabe, 27, of Gardner, and a 64-year-old male Gardner resident were fighting outside a residence in the area, then went inside a neighbor's residence. When deputies arrived to the neighbor's home, Mabe refused to be taken into custody.
"He continued to fight with the deputy," Meece said.
Eventually, members of the Gardner Fire Protection district and other agencies assisted Sheriff's Office deputies in taking Mabe into custody.
Mabe was charged with battering an officer, battering a senior citizen and interfering with reporting a domestic incident.
He is next due in court Wednesday.
