HERO support group
The Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization is partnering with Crossroads Counseling to offer twice-monthly support groups in Morris to assist families who are struggling with a member who suffers from addiction.
The first meeting will be at 7 p.m.
Jan. 12 and will feature a short informational forum at the Morris Theatre Guild in Morris.
The second meeting at 7 p.m.
Jan. 26 will be a support group meeting in the Canalport Conference Room, 518 W. Illinois Ave., Morris.
After that, the support group will meet on the second and fourth Fridays of the month at 7 p.m. in the Canalport Conference Room.
Early learning screenings
Early learning screenings for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds residing in Grundy County school districts will be provided by the Grundy County Special Education Cooperative.
Each screening will be from 8 a.m. until noon.

Yorkville Mini Golf FUN Raiser
Tickets for the Friends of the Yorkville Public Library’s fifth annual Mini Golf FUN Raiser are now on sale at the library.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28 and admission will be $5 a person.
Tickets can be bought during regular library hours and on the day of the event.
Eighteen holes of miniature golf are set up inside the library with nine holes on each floor.
All proceeds are used for library books and programs.
The Yorkville Public Library is located at 902 Game Farm Road.

Helmar Lutheran Church is having an
All You Can Eat Kumla Dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 20.
The proceeds are to support the HLC Food Pantry, which has grown from serving 10 to 120 families, twice a month, in its 10 years of operation.
The dinner includes ham, kumla (like a dumpling), applesauce, dessert and beverage.
For those who would prefer it, a baked potato will be substituted for kumla.

Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 1024 will host its second annual Steve Phillips Memorial Trivia Night at 7 p.m. Jan. 27.
Our brand of interactive, multimedia trivia is thoughtfully created and will both delight and challenge your team throughout the evening.
This year’s game promises to be a fast-paced, competitive affair that must not be missed.
New categories and questions await, along with upgraded audiovisual equipment that will certainly enhance our presentation.
Sponsors will provide hosts with prizes galore that will rain down upon our players over the course of the event.
We have space for 12 teams, so get your teams together and sign up soon.
Teams will consist of eight players, ages 21 and older. The cost is $200 a team ($25 per player).
The event will consist of 10 rounds of questions and champions will receive their entry fee, along with the traveling trophy.
The night also will have door prizes, raffles, 50/50 drawings and a full service bar, but bring your own snacks.
