GRUNDY COUNTY – Illinois State Police have released details regarding a crash that claimed the life of a Broadview man on Interstate 55 about two miles south of the Reed Road exit.
Stephen Fulse, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 5:50 p.m, according to the Grundy County Coroner's Office.
The crash occurred at about 4 p.m. Monday.Traffic had slowed in the area because of crash that had occurred minutes earlier, according to the state police. Stephen Fulse, 61, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Express and failed to yield to traffic, crashing into a Dodge Grand Caravan and a Honda CRV, causing a chain reaction.
"The van then spun around and struck another vehicle causing it to roll onto its side," according to a press release from the coroner's office.
"The drivers and passengers of the Dodge and Honda were all transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries," according to the press release.
The crash is still under investigation by Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Officers.
