A Channahon man allegedly shot a gun at his home with two women and two children present early Sunday, police said.
The Channahon Police Department responded to a residence in the 22000 block of South Kent Road for an “emotionally disturbed man with a firearm,” according to a news release. Responding officers learned at least one shot had been fired.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found two women and two children outside the home. They were moved to a safe location.
Police searched the property for the man. Officers reported hearing one gunshot in the area behind the home. With the assistance of several other local law enforcement agencies, police were able to locate William S. Latham, 39, in the backyard of the residence. He was hiding near a trampoline.
Police arrested Latham and recovered a firearm. Latham was later booked into the Will County jail on charges of possession of a weapon by a felon and reckless discharge. Latham was expected to appear in court Monday.
No one was injured.
