MORRIS – The idea came during a late-night conversation. Ginger Hollenbeck and Paula Barr, were trying to come up with an idea for using the space in the building Barr and her husband had just bought. As interior designers, they were focused on keeping Benjamin Moore in town.
“We didn’t want Benjamin Moore to go out of town,” Hollenbeck said. “Interior designers use Benjamin Moore paint.”
What came out of that discussion, and the others that followed, was Design House, a one-stop location for interior design needs.
Hollenbeck said that instead of sending people all over to businesses or people who specialized in one area or another, Design House has it all under one roof. From auto cad designs to upholstery to furniture arrangement, a customer should be able to find someone in the store.
Design House held its ribbon cutting with the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 29, but the store opened about five weeks beforehand, Hollenbeck said. She said everyone in the store has had some customers since then.
“It’s really done well,” she said
Design House is located at 525 Liberty St. in Morris.
