ORLANDO, FLORIDA – A Minooka man is facing charges in Orlando connected to an attempted kidnapping at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Universal Studios in Orlando.

Jason Mikel of Minooka was charged with kidnapping a child under the age of 13, battery and possession of cannabis less than 20 grams, Orlando television station WKMG reported Monday.

Mikel touched the girl while the two were in an area of one of the attractions in the park, according to WKMG. He allegedly touched her shoulders and told her to go outside.

The girl, reportedly 9-years-old, ran away to her mother.

Mikel was found at another attraction, the Hogwarts Express, and detained, the television station said. He was found with a scraped knee and a bloody lip, but it was not known how he suffered the injuries.

On Wednesday, WESH, another Orlando television station, reported that Mikel was not charged with kidnapping and was released on his own recognizance, although he still faced two misdemeanors.
