Coroner called to Interstate 80 crash, lanes reopened

Pedestrian pronounced dead at scene of vehicle vs. pedestrian crash

MORRIS – The Grundy County Coroner was called to an accident at about 12:20 p.m. on Thursday after a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80, according to scanner traffic.

An Illinois State Police press release said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is not known at the time.

The incident occurred at about the 115 mile marker, about a mile west of Brisbin Road.

Westbound lanes were closed and traffic is being rerouted using Brisbin Road, diverting traffic either south to U.S. 6 through Morris or north to Sherrill Road.

Lanes were reopened at 2 p.m.
