UPDATE: Pedestrian struck in I-80 crash was in traffic lane

MORRIS – Illinois State Police has released more information related to Thursday's crash on Interstate 80. At 11:55 a.m. on I-80, a westbound Freightliner tractor with semi- trailer struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway, according to the lastest ISP press release.

The incident occurred at about the 115 mile marker, about a mile west of Brisbin Road.

Westbound lanes were closed and traffic was rerouted using Brisbin Road, diverting traffic either south to U.S. 6 through Morris or north to Sherrill Road.

Lanes were reopened at 2 p.m.

The identiy of the pedestrian is not being released, pending notification of next-of-kin, the ISP stated.

"This remains an ongoing investigation by the Illinois State Police and no further information available at this time," the release read.
