A Dwight High School teacher was arrested on charges of criminal sexual assault with an underage male student at the school.
Kathryn A. Patten, 34, was arrested at her residence at about 4:30 p.m. Friday in rural Dwight, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. Patten posted $25,000 bond for release after being brought in front of a judge Saturday.
Due to the victim's age and the circumstances, Livingston County detectives said they would not be releasing any further information at this time. The sheriff's office initially received the call from the Dwight Police Department. The investigation is ongoing with additional charges possible.
Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress said the Livingston County State's Attorney's Office, Dwight Police Department and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services assisted in the investigation.
Dwight High School is located at 801 S. Franklin St. in Dwight. About 250 students are enrolled, according to Illinois State Board of Education data.
There are 23 teachers at the school, according to the data.
