Coal City Public Library District has completed the installation of a self-checkout computer kiosk. The kiosk is located on the first floor to the left of the front desk.
The checkout includes screen instructions to guide patrons who use the self-checkout station. The station is touchscreen, relatively easy to use, and can generate a receipt if needed. The self-checkout can be used to borrow and renew items and review or cancel a hold using one's CCPLD library card.
“Our main objective is to enhance our customer service,” said Jolene Franciskovich, Library Director. “The self-check machine is simple to use and will allow our staff to focus more time on helping library users find materials and provide other services such as fishing and hunting licenses and passport applications.”
Library staff is hopeful library users will embrace the new technology. Library users uncomfortable using the new technology can still check out their items in the traditional way with a library staff member.
