Besides the atmospheric spark of Christmas, items designed for home interior also branched out to more all-year-round items. Carolyn Buchmiller is the owner of The Name in Pictures, where the trend of alphabet photography takes a more local approach.
“I mostly take my pictures around Chicago and Chicagoland area, like Naperville and Oswego,” said Buchmiller.
The idea of sticking out the Illinois area brings in a homey feeling to those who grew up or currently live in the state. With a background in interior design, Buchmiller customizes family names, first names, couples’ initials and more using her many photos.
“I once designed a board for a woman for her daughter’s birthday,” said Buchmiller. “Her daughter played softball so I was able to find photos that spelled her first name that all resembled things used in softball. It made it more personalized that way.”
This was Buchmiller’s sixth year at the Three French Hens market and business booms every year, selling more than 60 alphabet photography boards per show. She continues to attend this show because of all the great customers, as well as good neighbors, like Kelly Desmond.
