Walnut Grove utilizes new product suite

Created: Saturday, October 1, 2011 5:00 a.m. CST

Walnut Grove Village, a leading skilled nursing facility operated by WW Healthcare Consultants, has deployed the COMS Interactive, LLC Daylight IQ product suite as a key component of its innovative disease management program. A clinical intelligence software product, COMS’ (Clinical Outcomes Management Solutions) flagship product, Daylight IQ, has been proven to enhance resident quality of care and reduce unnecessary return to hospital rates.

Through the deployment of Daylight IQ, the Walnut Grove Village nursing team is benefiting from direct access to information and bedside technology, including a series of integrated, disease-based library of clinical protocols. These powerful tools significantly empower the entire care team including physicians, nurses, nursing supervisors and nurse aides. Additionally, use of Daylight IQ enhances communication between all stakeholders.

“Our residents and their families enjoy a greater sense of security knowing that they are receiving excellent care at Walnut Grove Village,” noted Steve Womack, Owner, WW Healthcare Consultants.
“Providing our dedicated clinical team with the innovative and life-saving technology tools offered by Daylight IQ significantly enhances the quality of care we can offer.”

“Given today’s economic climate and the current state of the healthcare industry, more and more hospitals are looking to partner with progressive skilled nursing facilities in extending care for their patients,” noted Edward J. Tromczynski, Chief Executive Officer, COMS Interactive, LLC.

“WW Healthcare Consultant’s progressive disease care management vision is improving the quality of life of their residents and reducing unnecessary return trips to hospital.”

Industry data shows that the average nursing home resident has a complicated disease profile, including one primary disease and average of eight secondary diseases or afflictions. Over 70 percent of re-hospitalizations from skilled nursing facilities are due to the progression of a secondary disease and/or the onset of a new disease. By receiving early detection of an individual’s change in condition and associated potential problems, caregivers have the opportunity to quickly respond, preventing further progression of the illness or affliction.
