Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity to assist homeowners with home repairs

SPONSORED

Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity has expanded its toolbox to offer repairs and other services for homeowners in the Grundy area.

In addition to new home construction, Habitat offers two unique restoration programs.

The upcoming construction season at Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity is striving to assist 10 homeowners through A Brush With Kindness and Aging in Place.

These restoration programs are committed to revitalize the appearance of the neighborhood, encourage connections within the community, and preserve existing affordable housing.

“Right now we’re seeing more and more people in need for these improvements who can’t do it on their own,” said Sally Van Cura, Executive Director for Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity. “We are giving seniors the dignity to stay in the homes safely by building things like handrails and ramps.”

“A Brush With Kindness” is a program designed to help low-income homeowners impacted by age, disability, and family circumstances who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes.

Aging in Place (AIP) is a program that helps with basic home repairs and changes needed to allow elderly homeowners to safely remain in their own homes.  The program focuses on accessibility improvements, mobility modifications, weatherization enhancements, and critical home repairs.

Qualifications to be considered for these programs include owning and residing in a home in Grundy County, as well as annual income guidelines, homeowners’ insurance, and are not at risk of foreclosure.

“Feel free to call the office and make an appointment, or schedule a consultation visit with our construction company,” Van Cura said. “We are looking for applicants, and we want to help!”
