The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are a time for family. A time of gathering, and a time to bring hearts and minds home. As the popular song goes “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” For those who have experience a death, the carols may ring hollow, the lights be too bright, gatherings too sad, and there are constant reminders of an empty space in the circle of the family.
This is the time to take care of yourself. To mourn in the way that is meaningful for you. If that means fully participating in the holiday traditions, then experience them in the best way you can. If that means that you cannot participate in any of the usual events and expectations of the season, then allow yourself the gift of doing what is right for you. Now is not the time for guilt or for pressure. Now is the time for embracing your journey, your right to grieve, and the importance of healthy steps.
The well intended may say to you “I know what you’re going through.” They certainly mean well, and they may know what THEY went through, but they don’t know what YOU are going through. Mourning is a very personal experience. Each relationship is mourned differently. We each go through it in our own unique way.
Reeves and Baskerville Funeral Homes extend an open invitation to join together for their annual Holiday Memorial Service. Two dates and times are offered. Sunday November 24, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home in Wilmington and again on Monday evening, November 25, 2019, 6:30 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City. EVERYONE is invited to this holiday memorial regardless whether our funeral homes have served your family or not… We would be privileged to include your loved one in our remembrance video. If we did not serve your family, and may have the honor to personally remember your loved one during this special time, please feel free to email a photo to Info@ReevesFuneral.com or drop off a copy to one of our locations prior to November 22, 2019. RSVP is not required, but appreciated by calling the funeral home at 815-634-2125, emailing us or sending us a message through FaceBook at www.Facebook.com/RFHBFH.
Together we remember, we celebrate and we give thanks for those whom we hold dear in our hearts.
Caring always, Matt Baskerville and the entire family of staff at Reeves and Baskerville Funeral Homes.
