Morris Hospital announces results of Cornfest 5K Fun Run

MORRIS –  Three hundred sixty-six runners and walkers completed the Morris Hospital Cornfest 5K Fun Run to Support the Betty Sterritt Scholarship Fund on Sept. 27 in the neighborhoods surrounding White Oak Elementary School in Morris.

An additional 60 children ages 8 and under completed the Tot Trot. It was the 13th year Morris Hospital sponsored the event in conjunction with the Grundy County Corn Festival.

Connor Swanson, 13, of Newark, was the first-place overall male winner with a time of 17:53.5. Erica Duvick, 28, of Morris, was the first-place overall female winner with a time of 21:34.3. Duvick is the niece of the late Betty Sterritt, whom the scholarship fund memorializes.

The second-place overall male and female winners were Ray Hervaud, 39, Sheridan, with a time of 19:02.6 and Michelle Miller, 32, Morris, with a time of 21:39.1. Rick Dudley, 43, Morris, finished third among the males with a time of 19:07.6. Bridget Landers, 13, Morris, was the third place overall female with a time of 22:19.9.

Winners of the Tot Trot in the 5 and under bracket were: Brycen Johnson, first place; Brady Sheedy, second place; and Brock Claypool, third place, all of Morris. Tot Trot winners in the age 6-8 bracket were Carter Laudeman, first place; Payton Sterritt, second place; and Haden Hutchcraft, third place, all of Morris. In the 5K Fun Run Girls 11 and under category, Kayla Jepson, Morris, took first place with a time of 26:30.3, followed by Natalie Lawton, Morris, 28:00.6, second place, and Taylor Nelson, Morris, 28:27.7, third place. Winners of the Boys 11 and under category were Bryce Claypool, Morris, 23:27.0, first place; Matt Lawton, Morris, 25:10.5, second place; and Aaron Day, Morris, 27:42.6, third place.

Winners of the Girls 12 to 14 category were Alyssa Harrington, Wheaton, first place with a time of 24:23.0; followed by Isabella Miller, Morris, 25:13.1, second place; and Katie Jorgensen, Newark, 27:10.3, third place. Winners of the Boys 12 to 14 category were Garrett Wulffen, Morris, first place with a time of 20:23.4; followed by Jon Segura, Minolta, 21:32.0, second place; and Isaac Brockman, Verona, 23:21.5, third place.

Winners of the Female 15 to 19 category were Sydney Edwards Froisland, Ottawa, first place with a time of 23:24.8; Julia Long, Marseilles, 23:25.2, second place; and Emily Jacob, Bloomington, 24:53.3, third place. Winners of the Male 15 to 19 category were Adam Roseland, Morris, first place with a time of 20:59.1; Brock Kukman, Morris, 22:07.1, second place; Neil Vickers, Coal City, 26:06.3, third place.

Winners of the Female 20 to 24 category were Kayli O’Flanagan, Seneca, first place with a time of 22:36.5; Tiffany Hills, Channahon, 26:45.3, second place; and Hayley Robinson, Morris, 26:53.5, third place. Winners of the Male 20 to 24 category were David Mantey, Morris, first place with a time of 23:23.2; and Chris Ingram, Morris, 56:56.2, second place.

Winners of the Female 25 to 29 category were Sarah Gunderson, Ottawa, first place with a time of 23:04.9; Sherri Davis, Manhattan, 24:21.3, second place; and Jamie Kein, Morris, 26:15.0, third place. Benjamin Fogle, McNabb, was the first-place winner and only entry in the Male 25-29 category with a time of 23:53.3.Winners of the Female 30 to 34 category were Tonya Vidito, Morris, first place with a time of 24:19.8; Lisa Adams, Verona, 25:21.7, second place; and Stephanie Lines, Morris, 25:39.8, third place.

Winners of the Male 30 to 34 category were Jon Leslie, Marseilles, first place with a time of 22:35.6; Brian Davis, Manhattan, 24:28.0, second place; and Christopher Edwards, Braidwood, 24:34.5, third place.

Winners of the Female 35 to 39 category were Tammy Zweeres, Morris, first place with a time of 24:32.5; Dottie Laudeman, Morris, 25:50.3, second place; and Ember Anderson, Minooka, 26:18.8, third place. Winners of the Male 35 to 39 category were Nate Breed, Oswego, first place with a time of 19:17.1; Keith Smith, Morris, 22:52.7, second place; and Allen Biros, Coal City, 24:15.2, third place.

Winners of the Female 40 to 44 category were Smy Ulm, Channahon, first place with a time of 27:49.3; Beth Davy, Morris, 28:38.7, second place; and Charlene Hamann, Streator, 28:55.2, third place. Winners of the Male 40 to 44 category were Christian Kott, Morris, first place with a time of 20:26.1; Noel Garcia Reyes, Coal City, 22:10.8, second place; and Matt Gross, Ottawa, 23:46.0, third place.

Winners of the Female 45 to 49 category were Krista Hicks, Morris, with a time of 24:47.6; Sopheap Mitchell, Morris, 26:28.6, second place; and Terri Jacob, Bloomington, 26:43.4, third place. Winners of the Male 45 to 49 category were Bob Lowe, Ottawa, 24:19.1; Todd Hancock, Lincoln, 28:18.4, second place; and Stu Hipes, Morris, 28:57.0, third place.

Winners of the Female 50 to 54 category were Colleen Zawrazky, first place with a time of 23:07.1; Wendy Appl, Morris, 26:27.5, second place; and Lori Heggen, St. Charles, 27:59.4, third place. Winners of the Male 50 to 54 category Dan Paulsen, Mazon, first place with a time of 25:22.8; Mike Hayworth, Morris, 26:13.8, second place; and Kevin Callahan, Morris, 28:20.9, third place. Winners of the Female 55 to 59 category were Peggy Sauge, Seneca, first place with a time of 34:06.6; Susan Kuhel, Channahon, 34:38.5, second place; and Nancy Nordeen, Channahon, 40:11.5, third place. Winners of the Male 55 to 59 category were Brian Walker, Winfield, first place with a time of 23:14.5; Brian Tatroe, Coal City, 24:29.8, second place; and Robert Marsaglia, Morris, 27:02.2, third place.

Winners of the Female 60 to 64 category were Rudell Hickey, Morris, first place with a time of 37:00.1; Jan Christensen, Morris, 48:34.2, second place; and Deb Hanley, Morris, 49:48.0, third place. Winners of the Male 60 to 64 category were Jeffrey Harris, Morris, first place with a time of 24:30.5; Mark Leigh, Morris, 24:48.6, second place; and Tom Drake, Lockport, 32:14.7, third place.

Winners of the Female 65 to 69 category were Judy Kuntz, Morris, first place with a time of 40:34.1; Rosalind Battersby, Morris, 48:59.8, second place; and Carol Meade, Morris, 50:19, third place. Winners of the Male 65 to 69 category Terry Misener, Morris, first place with a time of 26:47.0; Lyle Hecht, Morris, 32:43.4, second place; and Kenneth Phillips, Morris, 1:02.33.1, third place.

Winners of the Female 70 and over category were Nancy Bauer, Morris, first place with a time of 32:42.1; Diana Burkhardt, Mazon, 48:01.2, second place; and Kaye Hunsinger, Morris, 49:07.4, third place. Winners of the Male 70 and over category were John Roth, Morris, first place with a time of 34:37.0; Gary Wentworth, Morris, 54:50.8, second place; and Donald MacTrinder, Morris, 56:18.1, third place.

Proceeds from the run will go to the Morris Hospital Foundation for the Betty Sterritt Nursing Scholarship Fund. Betty Sterritt was a beloved nurse manager at Morris Hospital who passed away in 2010. Since then, staff from Morris Hospital has helped raise money each year for the scholarship fund, which was established by the Sterritt family.
