Morris Theatre Guild prepares Christmas chaos

Local theater troupe scrambles when Royal Shakespeare Company becomes a no-show

MORRIS – The cast of Morris Theatre Guild is busy preparing for the opening of its next show: “A Christmas Chaos,” written by Michael Wehrli, published by Heuer Publishing, and directed by Christine Johnson.

This comedy starts with the idea that Morris Theatre Guild has invited the Royal Shakespeare Company to visit Morris to present “A Christmas Carol.”

When they end up stranded elsewhere, MTG must put together its own version in less than a day.

The cast includes Morris residents Jim Welch, Sue Burich, Judy Miller, Brian, Colleen and Alana Stroup, Zoe Geiger, Makayla Malik and Annabelle Maloney.

Other cast members include Matt Johnson from Newark; Luke Pascale, Bill and Karianne Griffith, LeeAnn Dugard and Dawn Brunker from Plainfield; Jim Stewart of Shorewood; and Kevin Fogarty of Dwight.

The play runs Dec. 7 to 16, with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 presale or $20 at the door and can be purchased at www.morristheatreguild.org, or by calling 815-942-1966.

Bargain Hunters who missed buying season tickets can purchase a three-show season ticket for $34 and still save money.

In the spirit of Christmas, patrons are encouraged to bring nonperishable goods for We Care of Grundy County which will be accepted at all performances.

The show is sponsored by Douglas Tousaint, Leticia Setrini-Best, Victoria Ochoa, Andrea Chen, Jody Delind and Erik Muraska, to whom Morris Theatre Guild extends its thanks.

The public is also reminded that group ticket sales are available by calling 815-942-1966 for information.
