Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is offering two programs in September for individuals with chronic lung disease, including COPD, asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, and pulmonary fibrosis.
The Breathers’ Support Group will meet Friday, Sept. 20, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Diagnostic & Rehabilitative Center of Morris Hospital, 100 Gore Road, Suite H in Morris. During the support group portion of the meeting, participants will have an opportunity to participate in general discussions about ways to manage their condition, gain emotional support, and share their experiences with others. An educational topic is presented at each meeting, with this month’s topic focusing on flu season tips.
In addition, Morris Hospital offers a free Harmonica Group every Thursday from 10:45-11:30 a.m. at the Diagnostic & Rehabilitative Center. Harmonica playing is beneficial for individuals with lung disease by encouraging deep breathing, promoting pursed lip breathing exercise, strengthening the diaphragm and other breathing muscles, and increasing oxygen intake. Prior harmonica playing experience is not required. Light snacks will be provided.
