Grundy Chamber prepares for annual Family Fest – Feb. 15

Elsa of "Frozen" chats with a young girl at the Grundy County Chamber's Family Fest last year. This year's Family Fest is Feb. 15 at Shabbona School in Morris. Elsa will return this year, along with other characters, mascots and a day filled with fun activities.

The Grundy County Chamber’s Family Fest returns to Morris Feb. 15 and will have plenty to do for all members of your family.

This year’s Fest will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Shabbona Middle School at 725 School St. in Morris. The annual event provides free family fun for the public, and allows our local businesses and organizations to showcase their services and products to area families.

The event is free for families to attend every year thanks to our event sponsors: D’Arcy Chevrolet Buick in Morris, OSF Urgo, Exelon’s Dresden Station and Heartland Bank in Minooka.

Family Fest offers a great opportunity to visit with and learn about area businesses and organizations while getting your children out for a few hours of fun. Each vendor booth provides an activity for your children to play while you get to take some time to get to know the product or services they offer.

Families are also treated to face painting sponsored by Morris National Bank & Trust, pictures with Elsa from Frozen sponsored by the Holiday Inn Express in Morris, giveaways and raffle prizes.

In addition, our Kids Zone features a jump house, two shows by Dave DiNaso’s Traveling World of Reptiles (sponsored by Davidson Farms), mascots, games and more. The Kids Zone is sponsored by Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, Village of Minooka, LyondellBasell, First Midwest Bank, ONEOK, First Federal Savings Bank, Nicor Gas, Busey Bank and Financial Plus Credit Union.

New this year will be a character breakfast fundraiser with students from the Coal City Drama Club. Stay tuned for details on signing up for the breakfast.

Be sure to grab the Family Fest insert that has all the details of the event inside the Joliet Herald-News on Sunday, Feb. 9 or in the Morris Herald-News on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Every year about 1500 families from near and far come out to this event and leave with information on our local businesses and organizations.

There is still time to get signed up as a vendor or sponsor. Sponsorships of all levels include your booth, logo displays and advertisement. Individual booths options also are available. The event is open to both Chamber members and non-members.

The Grundy County Chamber takes pride in offering events and opportunities for our business community to market itself in a variety of ways throughout the year and across the county.
