Morris Hospital Auxiliary Gala set for Feb. 8

Guests preview the silent auction items at last year’s Morris Hospital Auxiliary Gala. Now in its 52nd year, this year’s Morris Hospital Auxiliary Gala will support women’s health services.

Members of the Morris Hospital Auxiliary are excited to announce the 52nd Annual Morris Hospital Auxiliary Charity Gala on Feb. 8 at Jennifer’s Garden, 555 Gore Road, Morris.

This year’s theme, “This is Me, A Celebration of Women’s Healthcare at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers,” will support women’s health services.

The Gala will begin with cocktails and a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auction beginning at 7 p.m. Dancing will follow, with live entertainment from the Bluewater Kings Band. The live auction will feature nearly a dozen items including exciting trips, tickets to major Chicago sporting events, and other unique items.

According to Hannah Wehrle, Morris Hospital Auxiliary & Foundation Officer, women’s health was selected as this year’s beneficiary in support of the unique healthcare needs of women.

“Between the hospital and office setting, women represent over 65% of our patients,” Wehrle said. “We are very proud to offer multi-generational care for women through a vast range of services at Morris Hospital, including preventive care in the physician office, pregnancy care in the OB office, labor and delivery in our Family Birthing Suites, post-partum care through our behavioral health services, diagnostic testing through our Imaging and Cardiology departments, support following surgery or radiation treatment, and disease management.”

“Yet there’s more to be done to enhance women’s health services at Morris Hospital,” Wehrle said. “With the community’s support, we will be able to expand the services and resources available to women at all stages of life.”

Tickets are $150 a person with seating available in tables of 10.

Sponsorship opportunities also are available at various levels. Sponsors to date include Busey Bank and First Midwest Bank at the Diamond level; Block Electric/Block Family Foundation and Conley Excavating & Construction at the Gold level; and Jim and Ann Ferro and Young Company LLC as table sponsors.

The Morris Hospital Auxiliary Gala is organized by a committee of community volunteers, including Laura Angwin, Cathy Bergstrom, Debbie Bols, Barb Boma, Becky DiVincenzo, Jill Dohm, Patti Engstrom, Sheila Funk, Judie Roth, Nicole Schaefer, Debbie Steadham, Cheryl Tesdal and Tracy Zabel.

Reservations can be made by going to morrishospital.org/gala or contacting the Morris Hospital Auxiliary at 815-705-7002. Those who are unable to attend the Gala but would like to help enhance women’s healthcare can make a gift by going to www.morrishospital.org/gala.
