Names of those killed in action will be read Saturday at Marseilles wall

The Freedom Run motorcycle ride from the Grundy County Fairgrounds to the Middle East Conflicts Wall in Marseilles was canceled this year, but the names of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice will be remembered.

The names of those men and women who died in Middle East conflicts in the past year will be read at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the wall.

The names of those killed in action were added to the memorial.

“Now we will honor those who gave all. We will never forget!” stated a post announcing the event on the memorial’s Facebook page.

Normally, the names are read during the Freedom Run event in June. The event was canceled this summer because of COVID-19 restrictions, but it is expected to return next year.

The wall is located on the north bank of the Illinois River at 200 Riverfront Drive in Marseilles.
