Officers respond to stabbing, 2 shootings in Joliet

Incidents occur during a week marked by gun violence in Joliet area

Two men stabbed each other, another man was shot, and a teen was wounded in a drive-by shooting during a week in the Joliet area that has been marked by gun violence and a double homicide in the township.

About 4 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 3700 block of Adesso Lane in reference to a stabbing, Joliet police said.

Officers found a 32-year-old man outside a residence with stab wounds to the chest and neck, police said. A 21-year-old man was found inside the residence with cut wounds and injuries to his legs, police said.

Both men were hospitalized for their injuries, which medical personnel said were not life-threatening, police said. Officers determined that the men got into a fight and stabbed each other, police said.

About 7:26 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Pine Street in reference to a man who had been shot, police said. Officers found a 42-year-old man in the front of a residence who had been shot multiple times in the chest and arm, police said.

The victim was conscious and breathing and taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Officers determined the victim got into an argument with another person.

“At one point, both subjects started to physically fight each other. The other subject then pulled out a gun and shot the victim,” police said.

About 11:44 p.m., officers went to the 200 block of Illinois Street in response to a shooting and found a 16-year-old male in front of a residence who had been shot multiple times in the lower body and legs, police said.

The teen was conscious and breathing and was hospitalized, police said.

Officers determined that the victim was being dropped off at a residence from a Lyft driver when another vehicle pulled up, police said.

“One of the occupants fired several rounds striking the Lyft vehicle and the victim,” police said.

On Wednesday evening, a 20-year-old woman was in a parked car in the zero to 100 block of Miller Avenue to pick up a friend when she was ambushed and shot multiple times, police said.

She was taken to a hospital for gunshot injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

On Tuesday, Zachary Stohr, 29, and Xavier Mendoza, 20, were found shot to death at an Ingalls Park liquor store in Joliet Township.

Stohr had been shot in the back and Mendoza shot in the head, Will County Sheriff's Office officials said.
