3 Fabulous New Tile Trends For Your Home

SPONSORED

While sheltering at home, it's been hard to stay in touch with trends in tile and other decorating materials. If you're one of the many homeowners who have been using the extra time at home to work on DIY projects, you may be thinking of updating your living spaces with new tile. If you're wondering about your design options, here are 3 fabulous new tile trends to consider:

1. Wood-look tile. "While traditional stone looks are still popular, realistic wood-look tiles and other textures are on the rise," explained Steve Meyer, owner of Steve's Flooring & Design in Morris. "Wood-look and even real wood tile are also on-trend for accent walls. It's amazing how realistic the wood-look tiles are these days. They combine the beautiful look of wood with the durability and strength of porcelain tile. Wider plank wood-look tiles are especially popular right now."

2. Larger sized tiles. "Tiles for floors and walls have been getting larger in recent years, with some tiles as large as 2' x 4'," said Meyer. "The larger format is great for open common areas, kitchens, and great rooms. The larger size makes a space feel even more expansive. We've also seen rising popularity in rectangular tiles versus square tiles." One great benefit of larger tiles is having fewer grout joints and fewer grout lines, leading to fewer demands for grout maintenance.

3. Fun new textures and patterns. "Tile manufacturers are continuing to deliver interesting and beautiful designs," added Meyer. "The colors, grains, and surface textures of wood-like tiles are incredible. We also have new accent tiles in fun patterns and colors for backsplashes, bathrooms, and other smaller spaces. Our customers can choose from wood-look, stone, metallic, chevron, geometric, mixed width, and a host of other designs that we feature in our showroom."
