Funeral Celebrant Assists Families During Times of Loss

SPONSORED

It's always very painful to lose a dear loved one, especially during the holidays. Grief can be unbearable, and many people have trouble navigating such a difficult period in their lives. At U.C. Davis - Callahan Funeral Home in Morris, Carol Walker, LCSW and a newly certified funeral celebrant, is available to assist families during their grief journey.

"A funeral celebrant, also known as a life tribute specialist, is someone who seeks to meet the needs of families during their time of loss," explained John Callahan, owner of U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home. "Carol attended a three-day workshop in Chicago to achieve her certification, and was joined by people from all over the United States and Canada. We're proud to offer her services here at U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home."

As a funeral celebrant, Carol will provide funeral services that are personalized to reflect the essence and the life of the deceased. "We saw a need for families that were without a church home." added Callahan. "With a funeral celebrant, the family can make the service non-religious, semi-religious, or spiritual. A funeral celebrant is also a wonderful solution for those who prefer prayers, scripture, and religious readings but don't have a pastor."

Carol, a retired medical social worker, developed the Social Service program at Morris Hospital over 35 years ago. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provided individual and family counseling in private practice for many years. She has developed a variety of support groups, most dealing specifically with chronic illness and grief. "Carol has partnered with us for the past eight years as a bereavement specialist, and will now be available to provide celebrant services," said Callahan. "She is available anytime by appointment."
